The term penne, or rarely, in the singular, penna, generally indicates a type of cylindrical-shaped pasta cut at the ends with parallel oblique cuts.
When it was created in the 19th century near Genoa they were called this because the new format seemed to imitate the nibs of fountain pens.

Produced with ancient Timilia wheat flour.
